WIND HAIR

Filed under Portrait • Written by Griffith Photography @ 3:26 PM

Did I drag my wind machine out to Lake Michigan?  Or did I bring lake michigan into the studio?  Hmmm….no and no.  Miss Emily  just so happens to have hair from the GODS.  It’s always so flowy and perfect and windable.  The woman has perfect wind hair.  When the wind blows around my head it looks like a tropical storm or a swarm of something flying around my head.  I assure you it never looks like this ;)  So, cheers to wind hair…may we all be so lucky to walk down the street and have this happen, if only once!!!

Perfect Beach Day!

Let’s just say that family portraits with these guys was a breeze….not only beautiful and happy people in general, but easy going and easy to work with too!  It’s a win win!  We piggy backed this family session on with Megan’s senior pictures which is such a great idea for those of you who know you want family pictures but also know how hard it is to schedule them!  Do them together!  Yes, the bill will hurt because you’re doing two major ordering appointments in one, but we all know it’s worth it.  (and why we offer payment plans, right :) !!!)  Heather, it was a pleasure photographing your wonderful family and you’ll regret giving me a tour of your new house because I’m alllll ready to get these images up on your walls!  Can’t wait to show you the rest!  ~emily

“Hi, remember me?”

Filed under Portrait • Written by Griffith Photography @ 3:06 PM

Oh June….oh June!  You’re here!  I remember you!  Our business is comprised of about 70 Senior Sessions per year, 30-50 babies and kids sessions per year, and 10-20 Family Portrait Sessions, and then tons of business head shots from our favorite local bankers and realtors and other professionals!  Some of this business is year round, but sessions like Family Portraits and Seniors are very seasonal and pretty much only happen from June-December.  And alas….June is here!  We spend our quiet winters and mucky springs photographing our Baby Plan members as usual and the rest of the time we use to gear up for our Seniors!  It’s exciting and stressful.  If only I could stretch the season out a bit…but I really can’t.  June marks school being out for the summer and thus a little lightbulb goes off in the minds of those great parents…”oh…senior pictures?!?!?”  And then December rolls around and it’s “oh crap…yearbook…”  So that’s my season…and in June it’s as if I can look off the front stoop of the studio and my seniors for the year are all marching together down Cass Street like the Danish Festival Parade in one big mass…they are all coming at once and the pressure is on.  I do love to photograph these guys!  A milestone in their lives, a proud age, a great time to commemorate their achievements.  This is my job.  I do love it.  You  may notice my low numbers….70 seniors…that’s it!  That’s ALLLL we have time and energy for.  It’s important to me (even at the disapproval of THE BOSS…(insert husband’s name here) to have each and every senior represented as the individual he/she is.  No assembly line here, folks.   And we hope you’ll notice that!  We’re a small studio and have no desire to expand to bigger numbers….because that would just mean I’d lose my touch with the customers I proudly serve.  If you are interested in one of our sessions please call the studio today and I’ll PERSONALLY give you the info you need to make a decision!

Our Evelyn: 15 months!

Filed under Portrait • Written by Griffith Photography @ 10:42 AM

Okay, she’s nearly 16 months old, but I just got around to photographing her for her 15 month session so that’s what I’m going by!  Evie is a joy, a pill, a comedian, a beauty, a maniac, a great sleeper ( i know, right!), and a garbage disposal.  We love her so unbelievably much and it’s so neat to watch her explore and learn and take the world in.  Being parents ROCKS.  She started part-time daycare a couple of weeks ago so I could nab some more help from Allan around the studio in our busy season.  She’s adjusting slowly to say the least.  She’s not sure about other humans…(she gets that from her father…) she’d rather observe the other kids and play by herself.  But we love the daycare center she’s going to so we’re hoping she’ll blossom out of her little shell soon!  It’s funny to watch people’s faces when we tell them she’s just shy and that when she’s at home she’s in total seek and destroy mode.  ”really?  this one?  riiiigggghhhttt…..” I assure you, her crazy is completely in tact. But when other’s are around she’s a shy guy which is fine with me too because that’s when I get the most hugs :)

Meet Shelby!  She’s so absolutely adorable.  I could tell she was nervous when she got here so I gave her the “I’m a little nutso and talk pretty fast but don’t be scared” speech and she bought it :)  Shelby has wind hair….it just flows and dances perfectly in the air in awesome sync with the shutter!  Thanks Shelby’s Hair…love ya!  More to come of Shelby…this is just a tease so she can see how they turned out before she makes the trip back up to the studio to view the rest and get her model cards!

Little Angel

A perfect newborn session…doesn’t happen often, but this one was.  When I got to their home mom already had him naked with just a diaper and sound asleep wrapped in a blanket, so needless to say he was primed and ready for some modeling.  Newborn sessions are the most productive when photographed in the first 14 days because when they are out, they’re out… and you can do whatever you want with them.  (usually) This first image is my favorite because he was breech when he was born so his little legs didn’t want to fold down so this pose was right up his alley!  Toward the end of the session he woke up and let us do some awake shots…see, I told you it was perfect!  Thanks for the opportunity to work with boy wonder!  Love him!!!

Here we go….
